People sometimes ask us, “Why do you put on this event?” This is our 5th year of hosting the CiderMan Sprint Triathlon, so I have 5 answers to this question.
#1 Health
We host the CiderMan to offer a fun way for people to get and stay healthy. There are lots of options so that more people can join in and get some exercise. You can do the whole triathlon, or a duathlon (run bike run), aqua bike, or just bike or just run. Don’t want to swim? You can paddle instead! You can even get a couple of friends and do a relay. We are not USA Triathlon affiliated, so those who are new to triathlons or who have never done one will find it easier to participate.
#2 Happiness
We like to have fun on our farm! Not only do we offer the sprint triathlon, but we also have a Free Concert the night before, and some incredible local food for purchase. You can also camp on the farm before the event. A phenomenal group, Scott Vignassi’s Big Little Big Band plays swing and Count Basie-style hits. You can even dance if you want to! Roy-el Catering will be serving unique offerings such as Big Mac Smash Burger Tacos, Brisket Sandwiches, and the St Louis Smash Burger. Yum!
#3 Help
People like to volunteer and we have that at our CiderMan Sprint Triathlon. We have a lot going on at this event, and need many hands and feet involved to pull it off. Whether it’s lifeguarding, first aid, cheering others on, or offering a cup of cold water, we have many opportunities for you. If you are looking for a place to volunteer and bring joy and fun to others, you’ve found it! Call or text us at 618-719-5214 to learn more.
Twenty percent of all our proceeds go to help our local police and fire departments, in honor of John Ogonowski, the pilot of Flight 11, the first plane to hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. Just by entering this race, you are a great help to our first responders and those who depend on them.
#4 Home
The name for our event came from a family event that we have been holding for the past 17 years. Every fall, we gather family and friends on our farm to play games, share food and make homemade fresh apple cider. One of our sons is into cycling, and suggested we host a triathlon, so we named it the CiderMan in honor of our family event CiderFest.
#5 Happenings
We love being able to support our local town and the surrounding communities by offering activities and commerce with this event. The past four years more and more people have come from different states to participate in the CiderMan Sprint Triathlon. And when they do, they get to know our town with all of its unique places to eat, shop and play. This year, our fifth year, promises to see even more exposure to Millstadt as we work with Alpine Shop and Innovative Timing Systems to bring in more participation.
With all of these reasons to get involved, what are you waiting for? Contact us and sign up today! CiderMan Sprint Triathlon in Millstadt, IL – Details, Registration, and Results | ITS YOUR RACE
